Tekken 8 Update 2.05 Is Due In September, Emergency Patch Coming Soon To Fix ‘Unintended Behavior’

Tekken 8 Game Director Kohei Ikeda has revealed in a post on X that the game will be receiving an emergency patch next week to fix a number of issues described as “unintended behaviour contrary to our design intent,” which includes the characters of Devil Jin, Kuma, and Reina.

Beyond that, he confirm the Tekken 8 update 2.05 is arriving in September as the next major update for the fighting game sequel.

Regarding the reports we’ve received before and after the release of “TEKKEN 8” Ver.2.03.01 update, after reviewing them with the battle balance team, we’ve determined that three issues showing unintended behavior contrary to our design intent should be addressed as a priority. Details on the three fixes planned for this update will be quoted sequentially in this thread.

We are currently working on fixes and testing in the development environment, and we expect to release an emergency update sometime next week. Once the exact date is confirmed, we will announce it via the official TEKKEN account. In addition, other reported issues are also being reviewed, with a view to addressing them starting from Ver.2.05 scheduled for release in September.

We appreciate your patience and continued support of “TEKKEN 8.”

Tekken 8 was released in January 2024 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The game launchd its second season at the start of April, which was met with overwhelming criticism from fans and pro players alike, with many characters possessing overpowered attacks that offered little to no counterplay. Since then, the development team has been attempting to fix things with a series of balance updates, and while Tekken 8 is in a much better shape now, there’s still more work to be done.

Earlier this month, Bandai Namco released Tekken 8 update 2.03, which contained some more balance changes and adjusted the block frames on Rage Arts, allowing them to be launch punished more effectively by the cast.
