Tekken 8 Update 3.01.01 Rolls Out With Kunimitsu Early Access, Major Nerfs For Heat Recovery On Key Characters

Bandai Namco Games has released Tekken 8 update 3.01.01 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S today, which comes with support for Kunimitsu, the game’s latest DLC character, for those who have purchased the Season 3 Pass. General access for Kunimitsu will be available from June 2, 2026. Beyond that, the update makes a number of key changes for the Heat system, specifically in regards to characters who were able to regain Heat timer by landing specific moves. For example, King no longer recovers heat during his various throw attacks, which was seen as a huge advantage for the character, and Law’s nunchucks also no longer reward him with extra Heat. You can read the full patch notes below.

PLAYABLE CHARACTERS

Character Move Behavior Fixes and Balance Adjustments
– In Ver. 3.01.01, in addition to fixing unintended behaviors, we have implemented performance adjustments primarily targeting Heat-related moves, following up on changes from Ver. 3.00.02.
– For Heat-related moves, we reviewed techniques that made it too easy to maintain pressure due to their high lockdown potential, as well as moves where the reward was excessively high relative to their risk. Additionally, we have removed the Heat Timer recovery properties that were set on certain moves in order to prevent Heat state from lasting for an excessively long duration.
– We will continue to monitor the balance between risk and reward, as well as each element’s overall impact on the game, and will keep working toward providing a better competitive environment.

Known Issues

– Behavior fixes and move adjustments implemented in Ver. 3.01.01 are affecting the command list and description text in Practice mode. As a result, there is an issue where the displayed information does not match the actual move properties.
– We sincerely apologize for not being able to fully address this due to prioritizing battle balance adjustments. This issue is scheduled to be fixed in the next update.
