Tekken 8’s Katsuhiro Harada Responds To Fan Criticism Over Anna Williams’ New Look

The reveal of Anna Williams’ new look for Tekken 8 has gone down pretty well with most of the fanbase, but series overlord Katsuhiro Harada has hit out at one particular player who is less than impressed with the character’s redesign ahead of her Season 2 release.

In case you missed it, Nina’s feisty sister has had something of a makeover, sporting a bob-cut hairstyle complete with red tints and her left eye covered by her fringe. One user took to X to complain about Anna’s new look, stating that “replacing Anna with this new character is the devs’ way at getting back at Anna fans for all these years of support.”

Harada-san was having none of it however, noting that the user doesn’t represent all of the characters fanbase and that a lot of people are happy with her look in the game.

While 98% of the fans are welcoming this, there will always be people like you. I understand and sympathize that it may not suit your personal taste, but if you prefer the old design, past works already exist. I am not taking those away from you. Also, you refer to yourself as ‘Anna fans’, as if you represent all Anna fans, but you should express your opinion as an individual.

You threaten to quit if she isn’t brought back, you complain the moment she is brought back. You demand that she be reverted after she has been completely redesigned from scratch, including her model and framework. And if she actually were reverted, you’d just say, ‘that’s recycling’. Either way, your method of expressing your opinion and the content of your argument are entirely unconstructive, utterly pointless, and, above all, disrespectful to the other Anna fans who are genuinely looking forward to her.

Tekken 8 was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in January 2024, and Season 2 will be kicking off in early April with Anna’s release (although if you have the character pass, then early access starts in late March).
