Telltale Games sets sights on original IP, currently in development

Telltale Games has largely made its name by taking some of the world’s best known franchises and turning them into compelling point-and-click adventures, but new CEO Kevin Bruner has revealed that the studio is currently working on an original I.P.

Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, Bruner talks about his new role having taken over the mantle of CEO recently from Dan Connors. He says that 2015 is the “first of the next ten years for an ever-evolving Telltale” as it seeks to “break new ground as leading storytellers in the entertainment space."

Having worked on major franchises such as Back To The Future, The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones, part of that ten year plan includes an original I.P. which the team is currently working on.

"We’re thrilled to continue our growth and bring our unique style of scripted entertainment to the next generation of digital media, and do that across thousands of different devices, “ says Bruner.

“Our top priority is to continue fostering an environment where the most talented and creative storytellers in the industry are working side by side with the world’s biggest creative partners. We’re already working on some of the biggest franchises in entertainment, and when you add our unannounced partnerships and upcoming original IP, it’s clear the most exciting time to be at Telltale is now, and there will continue to be more and more opportunity to innovate ahead of us."

It’s going to be interesting to see whether Telltale sticks to its episodic, point-and-click, decision-making formula or branches out into something entirely different. Telltale’s next project is Minecraft: Story Mode, which will be released as episodic content starting in 2015.
