Leipzig Games Convention 2007 News

The Club multiplayer unveiled

Bizarre Creations has revealed details of the multiplayer modes that are to be available in the game “The Club” during a closed doors sneak peek at the Leipzig Games Convention 2007. Only single player modes were shown, but Nick Davis stated that there would be nine multiplayer modes based on the single player gameplay aspects in some shape or form.

Matches will be set in the same eight locations used for single player. One will be an abandoned warehouse, another an old mansion, one a prison and the rest will be the backstreets of Venice. You will be also be able to play as any of the eight characters from the single player game, and also be able to create your own characters.

Davis states the multiplayer modes are "half quite traditional, half based around “The Club” and the way it works". Expect the standard deathmatch and team deathmatch modes but also new modes like sprint, where you’re racing against the clock and picking up points for stylish kills, headshots and so on.  The game will also enable players to compete online. Davis said there will be "around 600 leaderboards in total", which he reckons is a world record.

"The Club" is a loosely organized and highly illegal underground entity. For most people, The Club exists only as an urban legend – a game where criminals are paid huge amounts to carry out gunfights and where online spectators view, gamble and cheer them on in a deadly game of skill. Yet the rumours are true. People are getting rich. People are dying. The first task is to survive, but according to their rules – quickly, relentlessly and with style.

Set in a variety of unusual and evocative locations, the game focuses on addictive and rewarding frenetic gameplay. The Club will deliver fast-paced gameplay with a variety of high-powered weaponry at the players’ disposal. The game will showcase the capabilities of next-gen consoles, maximizing the graphical and audio technology available to deliver a visually stunning and action-packed gameplay experience.

The Club is due out this "holiday season", and expect a hands-on preview from PSU soon.
