The Evil Within 2 picks up a few years after the events of its predecessor. Here, we find detective Sebastian Castellanos dismissed from the force due to his superiors failing to accept his account of the traumatic events that transpired in the original game.

After spending most of his days in a drunken haze, Seb finds new hope after discovering his daughter, who he believed to have perished in a fire, may in fact still be alive. As such, he delves back into the terrifying STEM world in an attempt to rescue her against all odds.

While the core gameplay remains unchanged, The Evil Within 2 does introduce some new ideas to the formula. Chiefly, environments are now bigger, allowing players to freely explore the world for valuable supplies.

In addition, players can take advantage of a revamped customisation system. This allows Seb to be fully upgraded with various key attributes, as well as crafting weapons and other key items by scavenging materials from each location.

Mikami-san recently said that he’d be up for directing Resident Evil 8 if give the chance by Capcom.
