In the first of three disturbing new trailers leading up to the release of The Evil Within this October, players are introduced to some of the survival tactics they’ll need to master in order to outwit some of the horrific creatures that await in Tango Softwork’s spine-tingling new survival horror game.
Part survival horror, part psychological thriller, The Evil Within is a disturbing tale that thrusts players into the role of Detective Sebastian Castellanos as he investigates who or what is terrorising Crimson City. With Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami in charge of production, players can expect a mix of action, stealth, and puzzle play as they scavenge for weaponry and ammunition, upgrade their abilities to make them stronger and attempt to use the game’s many devious traps against the enemy. We also get a look at The Sadist, one of the first terrifying bosses that players will encounter.
PSU went hands-on with The Evil Within earlier this year. Senior Editor Mike Harradence had this to say: “Mikami seems to have struck a palpable balance between action and horror, with blood-pumping combat punctuated by quieter, gut-wrenching exploration thanks to a suitably creepy, atmospheric soundtrack.”
The Evil Within will launch in North America on October 21 and Europe on October 24. A pre-order bonus titled the ‘Fighting Chance Pack’ will allow players to augment themselves with a host of additional in-game items, including a Medical Kit, Green Gel, Double-Barrel Shotgun, Incendiary Agony Bolt, and Poison Agony Bolt.
