Organisers behind The Game Awards have confirmed that this year’s event will take place on December 12, 2024 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
This is a key year for The Game Awards as it’s the 10th anniversary of the Geoff Keighley-fronted event, which is home not only to dishing out gongs to the top games of the past 12 months, but is also known for major game reveals and updates on previously announced titles.

The Game Awards have become increasingly popular over the years, and last year’s event pulled in a whopping 118 million livestreams, which represented an increase of 15% over the previous year. As such, 2023’s show was the most-watched in the event’s history.
However, The Game Awards isn’t without its criticism. In particular, last year was criticised for not giving enough time for game developers to speak on stage after collecting their awards. Furthermore, Keighley himself also came under fire for failing to mention the widespread industry layoffs that plagued the year (and are still continuing throughout 2024), and the celebrity guests don’t always sit well with some folk.
