The Last Guardian gets October release date on PS4 and Collector’s Edition
Sony confirmed during its press conference that The Last Guardian will be released in the U.S. on October 25 and in the U.K. on October 28. In addition, the game is set to receive a Collector’s Edition containing a premium Trico statue.
Developed by SCE Studio Japan, The Last Guardian was unveiled for PS4 at E3 last year following years of silence. The game was originally announced as a PS3-exclusive back at E3 2009.
However, despite initially attracting a holiday 2011 release window, the game was delayed seemingly indefinitely amidst various internal problems, including the departure of creator Fumito Ueda.
At one point, former Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) boss Jack Tretton suggested the project was on hiatus, although this was firmly dismissed by the company soon after.
