According to a report on GamingBolt, Sony’s upcoming The Last Guardian isn’t going to take up too much space on your PlayStation 4 when the hotly anticipated action-adventure launches next week.
The Last Guardian PS4 file size is smaller than you might think
The site claims that the game will take up around 15GB on your PS4, which is considerably smaller than your average title for Sony’s flagship games machine.
The Last Guardian is due for release in the U.S. on December 6 and in Europe on December 9, exclusively for PlayStation 4. The game has been in development for around nine years, and was first announced for the PS3 back at E3 2009. However, production shifted to the PS4 following numerous setbacks, which included Ueda-san’s departure from Sony to work on the game on a freelance basis.
Interestingly, this will be Ueda-san’s first game in a decade, having previously shipped Shadow of the Colossus back in 2006 for the PS2. Sony later released a high-definition bundle of Team ICO’s titles for PS3 as part of the ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection in 2011.
Developed by Sony’s Japan Studio and Ueda-san’s newly-established genDESIGN, The Last Guardian recalls the events of a young boy who was captured under mysterious circumstances and imprisoned in a walled castle. However, he soon meets and befriends Trico, a large, griffin-like beast who aids the boy in overcoming the various puzzles and enemies located within the castle walls.
Outside of the core gameplay, which focuses on platforming and solving environmental puzzles, The Last Guardian focuses on the theme of friendship, as the boy and Trico grow to trust each other and develop a close bond throughout their journey.
