The Last of Us Part 2 location theories gather pace
Fans have been working diligently to uncover the setting of Naughty Dog’s upcoming The Last of Us Part 2 following its showing at Sony’s Paris Games Week Media Showcase.
According to eagle-eyed Reddit members, the post-apocalyptic sequel appears to take place in the Seattle, Washington area.
This is evidenced by a rusty road sign that is viewable in last week’s wince-inducing trailer. To be more specific, it is believed the footage takes place I-5 Highway, located 1.3 miles from the location believed to be seen in some recent art work.
You can see Reddit member Voldsby’s findings in our earlier post, which makes a strong case for Ellie and Joel’s next adventure being set in the Seattle area.
Naughty Dog has yet to confirm or deny that The Last of Us Part 2 takes place in Seattle, although it’s looking pretty likey this is the case. Still, take any of these findings with a pinch of salt just in case.
The most recent trailer for the highly anticipated sequel attracted huge criticism for its heavy violence. Sony quickly moved to defend the trailer’s contents, stating the game is intended for mature audiences.
The Last of Us Part 2 release date has yet to be confirmed, although recent comments from the game’s composer has given us a clue as to when it may see the light of day.
Set a few years after the critically acclaimed original, The Last of Us Part 2 sees Ellie, now 19-years-old, seeking revenge against an unknown group, possibly the Fireflies.
Fan theories have suggested that Joel may in fact be dead, and that the potty-mouthed heroine is looking to avenge his death.
Regardless, it has been confirmed by Naughty Dog that Ellie is the main playable character in the game. Furthermore, the central theme will focus on hate, where as the original was focused on love.
