The Last Of Us Part II On PS5 Pro Using PSSR Has More Detail Than PS5 Version Running At Native 4K

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II is one of many titles that will be taking advantage of the PS5 Pro, and a new report by Digital Foundry’s Oliver McKenzie has revealed just how much of an improvement in terms of visual fidelity the game offers on the new console.

Essentially, the DF report notes that The Last of Us Part II using PSSR on PS5 Pro boasts more detail than the game would have when running on the regular PS5 at native 4K. However, McKenzie does say that “image stability isn’t quite as good, it’s more similar to that performance mode I would say, so it’s not quite there completely in terms of image stability.”

The Last Of Us Part 2 was originally released for the PS4 in June 2020, and was remastered for the PS5 back in January this year. The PS5 Pro is set to arrive on November 7, 2024, and carries a hefty price tag of $699.99/£699.99. The high-end console aims to provide significant enhancements in performance for PS5 games, with the PS5 Pro Enhanced label allowing for greater visual fidelity and smoother frame rates.

Naughty Dog announced yesterday during State of Play that The Last of Us Part I is coming to PS Plus Extra tomorrow, aka Outbreak Day in the series’ universe.
