The Last of Us Part 2 has a number of upgrades for Ellie which can be found in Training Manuals and acquired through collecting Supplements. But how does all of this work? Well, we have the upgrades, supplements, training manuals explained fully for you in this guide.
The Last of Us Part 2 Upgrades, Supplements, Training Manuals Explained
In order to understand these three interwoven features of The Last of Us Part 2, we need to take each one at a time. Upgrades in The Last of Us Part 2 are bonuses given to Ellie upon acquiring them, such as increased crafting speed or the ability to use listen mode from a further range. Upgrades are found in trees and you need to buy the previous upgrade before you can unlock the next one.
New upgrades can be acquired by finding Training Manuals scattered throughout the world. These manuals unlock new trees, with an entirely different set of bonuses. You can then purchase upgrades with Supplements, which are found in houses, drawers, and anywhere and everywhere in the world.
Do note, that you cannot acquire every upgrade in the game in one playthrough. Therefore, you will need to pick and choose, focusing on what is most important to you and your playstyle. Overall, this works in a fairly similar way to the first game. However, the training manuals which are scattered throughout the game can be tricky to find for the untrained eye and are the new part of this system. Naughty Dog has done a lot of work streamlining this system, which allows it to work better than the first game.
