The premiere episode of HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 has recorded 5.3 million viewers following its debut in the US on Sunday night, eclipsing the Season 1 premiere by 13%.

The Last of Us Season 2 features seven episodes and kicks off the events of Naughty Dog’s video game, The Last of Us: Part 2. In addition to returning cast members such as Bella Ramsey (Ellie) and Pedro Pascal (Joel), the cast has expanded with Kaitlyn Dever (Abby), Young Mazino (Jessie), and Spencer Lord (Owen). However, showrunner Craig Mazin has revealed that it will take at least one more season to tell the events of the second game, with a third season already confirmed.
Naughty Dog and Sony recently announced the release of The Last of Us Complete, which packages The Last of Us Part 1 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered together for PS5. A physical version is set to launch later this year. Meanwhile, rumours persist about The Last of Us Part 3, but Naughty Dog has yet to confirm the game is in development.
