The Last Of Us Star Troy Baker Is Sure ‘We’ve Not Seen The Last Of Joel’

Speaking during an interview with Eurogamer, Troy Baker, who voices Joel in Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us series, reckons we haven’t seen the last of the character, although wouldn’t specific in what capacity the character could show up again.

Joel was the main character in The Last Of Us and was a key player in The Last of Us Part II, although the character’s story is given a definitive conclusion during the events of the second game — without spoiling anything for those who haven’t played it yet. Similarly, his fate is played out in HBO’s The Last of Us Season Two, where Joel is portrayed by actor Pedro Pascal.

I definitely know we’ve not seen the last of Joel, whether that be Naughty Dog or somebody else,” said Baker. He went on to call The Last of Us “one of the best stories in games,” while acknowledging the “incredible” number of them out there. “What I love about [The Last of Us] is, I have never felt more of like, what the character is feeling,” before jokingly stating he was “exhausted” and didn’t “want to do this anymore.” Baker also said he feels the TV did a “great job of keeping the essence and spirit” of The Last Of Us video games for those who haven’t experienced them.

Naughty Dog is currently working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but there has been speculation for years that it is also developing The Last of Us: Part III. Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann revealed during the end of last month that The Last of Us has a ‘few stops that remain on the road ahead,’ although he didn’t go into details at the time.
