Fallout New Vegas John Gonzalez News Obsidian PS5

The Lead Writer On Fallout New Vegas Has Rejoined Obsidian, But Isn’t Working On A Sequel

John Gonzalez has announced on his LinkedIn profile that he has returned to Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian, where he is taking on the role of creative director.

For those out of the loop, Gonzalez previously served as lead writer on Fallout: New Vegas during his initial stint at Obsidian, but has stressed that his new role doesn’t involve him working on a sequel to that project. He previously served at Obsidian from 2008 — 2011, after which he worked on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor for Monolith and then at Guerrilla Games on Horizon and Horizon Forbidden West.

While Gonzalez isn’t working on a Fallout New Vegas sequel, the game’s director Josh Sawyer, said last August that he would be interested in fronting a new Fallout game if he was provided enough creative freedom.

Fallout New Vegas was released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2010, and acts as a spin-off title to the main franchise. Obsidian became part of the Microsoft Game Studios team back in November 2018 after it was acquired by the Xbox manufacturer, and has since worked on Grounded, Pentiment and Avowed.
