The Lord of the Rings: War in the North — Legacy Edition is now available for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, with Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions arriving in Europe on August 18. The game can be grabbed from the PlayStation Store for $19.99/£18.99.
The game is remastered version of 2011’s The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, and sees players venturing into a darker, grittier Middle-earth as war rages beyond the path of the Fellowship of the Ring, focussing on the untold story of Black Numenorean servant Agandaur, who has rallied a huge force in the ruins of Fornost. Players can select between three characters: Dunedain Ranger Eradan, who specialises in stealth and precision with bows and swords; Elven Loremaster Andriel, who wields magic support and healing spells; and Dwarves Champion Farin, who dishes out powerful blows and can take them to boot.
Each hero can be customised with unique skills and abilities, while Beleram, a Great Eagle, can be summoned so strike from the skies to help turn the tide of battle. Along the way, players will brush shoulders with iconic characters such as Aragorn, Gandalf, and Elrond, while visiting locations including Rivendell, Lorien, The Lonely Mountnain, and Mirkwood.
