The Next Battlefield Game May Not Arrive Until At Least 2025

Electronic Arts has indicated during its latest earnings call that the next entry in the Battlefield franchise may not arrive until at least 2025.

Speaking during the call, the publisher’s EVP and Chief Financial Officer, Stuart Canfield, spoke about the company’s plans for its non-sports titles going forward, with EA looking at “iconic new releases” from the likes of Battlefield, Mass Effect, and Star Wars in FY25 and beyond.

Indeed, this does seem to imply that we won’t be getting anything new from the Battlefield series just yet, and for now at least EA is looking to keep fans ticking over with Battlefield 2042. Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, commented:

Our team is working hard to deliver for the community with increasingly engaging live services like the recent announcement of Battlefield 2042 season 7, with new maps, weekly missions and much more.

We’re making investments in the future of the Battlefield franchise. Our exceptional teams from multiple world-class studios working with cutting-edge frostbite technology are building an expansive, community focused Battlefield universe for fans.

Battlefield 2042 was released in November 2021 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. You can read our full review here.
