The Walking Dead has made Sony a believer in episodic content

Shuhei Yoshida, head of Sony Worldwide Studios, has heaped praise over developer TellTale Games’ efforts with its downloadable episodic hit, The Walking Dead.

Yoshida-san was speaking in light of the PlayStation 4 reveal last Wednesday, where he revealed that The Walking Dead actually made Sony a believer in episodic content, having previously remained sceptical on such a model.

“Episodic has been talked about for a long time and most people are skeptical until [they] play The Walking Dead. Now we are big fans of episodic gaming. We’re believers now,” he told Polygon.

“Hats off to [the] Telltale guys, they proved it works.”

Quizzed if Sony may adopt the format for its own software in the future, he replied, “I’d be happy to see some of our games adopt that model in the future.”

The Walking Dead scooped up a heap of awards following its staggered release over PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE last year. The game is based on the comic book of the same name, and differs from the popular TV show.
