THQ confirms Saints Row movie reveal for next month

Brian Farrell, CEO of publishing giant THQ, has reaffirmed that the company will be officially lifting the lid on the movie adaptation of Saints Row in December.

Chatting with the folks at Gamasutra, Farrell confirmed that the publisher has set its sights on getting the flick in cinemas around the same time Saints Row 3 hits the shops — that’s autumn 2011, in case you didn’t already know.

"I can’t speak for the people in Hollywood. [But] this builds our brand at no cost to us," said Farrell.

The company announced back at E3 that it was planning on unveiling the project next month, with THQ’s Danny Bilson commenting, "What we have coming on Saints Row – and we’ll announce it in December – is the most robust transmedia play on any game ever done."

"We will have a movie with a major filmmaker that will be tied to our content and we will be ideally day-and-date with that movie."

Internet speculation suggests that the movie’s reveal will pop up at the annual Spike VGA Awards. Stay tuned for more developments as they break.
