Titanfall 2 release date leak is probably rubbish, so don’t get your hopes up

A listing for Titanfall 2 on Middle-Eastern retailer, MEPlay, has apparently leaked the release date for Electronic Arts’ upcoming mech-based sequel as August 30.

While this has set tongues wagging on the Internet, it’s probably worth remembering that EA has already said that the game is due in the October-December period. In other words, don’t get your hopes up for a summer release.

If that wasn’t enough, EA has already commented on the proximity of Titanfall 2’s release to that of Battlefield 1, which hits stores in late October.

"There is a very broad and diverse set of players who play games in that category who are looking to fulfil different gameplay motivations," said the company’s CEO, Andrew Wilson.

"Some people play very quick play, some people more strategic play, and some people want both in different context. The result of that is, we feel like we actually have a really strong position to deliver the broadest set of gameplay mechanics as it relates to first-person shooter genre across the two titles, and feel very confident that we are well-positioned to do very well in that category in the year."

The original Titanfall was released on Xbox One back in 2014, although the sequel will be a multiplatform affair.
