Titanic VR Kickstarter launched, confirmed for PSVR

Immersive VR Education Ltd has launched a Kickstarter project for Titanic VR, an all-new gaming experience based around the sinking and exploration of the iconic RMS Titanic for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR.

The Kickstarter has 27 days to go at the time of writing, and has currently raised just over €10,000 of its €50,000 goal. The crowdfunding process will end on March 2, 2017 at 3.00pm GMT.

While optimized for virtual reality gaming, Titanic VR will be fully playable on standard PCs and the PlayStation 4, although if you want the full level of immersion you’ll want to strap on your PSVR headset. The experience comes in two flavors: One where you explore the wreckage of the ship, uncovering its secrets, while the other allows you to experience the sinking of the Titanic based on real events and accounts of survivors.

The team is going to great lengths to ensure the Titanic VR experience is as historically accurate as possible, and has meticulously recreated the innards of the luxury ship and those who sailed on her, such as Captain Edward Smith and other noted crewmembers and passengers. Titanic VR is also aiming to be more than just a game too, with the developers touting it as an educational and emotional experience for players of all ages.

Various rewards are on offer depending on how much you are willing to pledge, with €20 donated to the project bagging you the choice of your preferred platform upon Titanic VR’s planned 2017 release.
