Tony Hawk On Bam Margera’s Inclusion In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4: ‘I’m Not A Dictator In Terms Of How The Game Is Run’

Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has moved to set the record straight regarding the inclusion of Bam Margera in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, stating he didn’t force Activision to include the ex-Jackass star in the game.

Roger Bagley, co-host of The Live Club, stated back in March that Hawk had contacted Activision after the game was complete and insisted that Margera was to be included. As such, he “basically made them fly Bam back out there to get body-scanned and everything else” to secure his place in the game.

However, Hawk has now revealed during a chat with Polygon that Margera’s inclusion in the remastered Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 wasn’t quite how Bagley described above (although Hawk wasn’t directly responding to those comments). Instead, he merely requested that Margera, who appeared in the original THPS3, be featured in the remaster.

I’m not a dictator in terms of how the game is run. But, I did connect with [Bam] recently and he’s in a really good place and skating a lot. He just seems highly motivated and I felt like we should bring that energy back to the game. It was all very last-minute, I will say that. I’m thankful that he was agreeable and that Activision was into it. He got scanned in record time.

In related news, Activision confirmed that Jack Black is reprising his role as Officer Dick in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, and will also be voicing the character’s UK alter-ego, Constable Richard. In addition, Eric Sparrow, the villain from Tony Hawk’s Underground, will also appear in a cameo role.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is scheduled for release on July 11, 2025 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
