Surprise! PC RPG Torment: Tides of Numenera will also be released on PS4 alongside the PC version of the game in Spring 2017.
The PS4 version of the game will be ported by Techland, they of Dying Light and Dead Island fame.
An horrendously epic RPG set in the same universe as cult hit favourite Planescape: Torment, Tides of Numenera whisks players and their party off to alien fantasy world where they must battle a terrifying and eternal evil.
In fact, we’ve got the Torment: Tides of Numenera Key features below.
– A World Unlike Any Other — Journey across the Ninth World, a fantastic, original setting, with awe-inspiring visuals, offbeat and unpredictable items to use in and out of battle, and stunning feats of magic.
– A Rich, Personal Narrative — Thoughtful and character-driven, the story is epic in feel but deeply personal in substance. The philosophical underpinnings of Torment drive the game both mechanically and narratively.
– Reactivity, Replayability and the Tides — Your choices matter, and morality in the Ninth World is not a simple matter of “right” and “wrong”. Torment is a deeply replayable experience that arises naturally from your actions throughout the game.
– A New Take on Combat — Plan your way through hand-crafted set-pieces which combine battles with environmental puzzles, social interaction, stealth, and more.
According to an interview with the Polish branch of Eurogamer, Brian Fargo, the boss of developer inXile indicated that the success of Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut (check out our review!) on console was what caused a console conversion of Torment: Tides of Numenera to be greenlighted:
"Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut success and the gratitude expressed by a lot of fans after this release made us begin to plan the Torment: Tides of Numenera for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We’re especially excited to work with Techland, who – as a fellow developers – know exactly how to execute such a release without compromising the quality,” Fargo said.
The PS4 version of Torment: Tides of Numenera will get its first public outing in Gamescom, which takes place in just under two weeks time.
In the meantime though, you can catch the first trailer of Torment: Tides of Numenera below and join me in wishing that the supremely excellent PC RPG Pillars of Eternity, also makes the leap to PS4.
