NIS America announced the localization of Fushigi no Gensokyo: The Tower of Desire and will release as Touhou Genso Wanderer early next year in North America and Europe for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, both digitally and physically.
Set in the world of the famous Touhou Project shoot ‘em up franchise, Touhou Genso Wanderer is an RPG where players take control of Hakurei shrine maiden Reimu and must return the world of Gensokyo to normal.
Here’s Touhou Genso Wanderer’s story set-up from NIS America:
One day, Reimu Hakurei is visiting Rinnosuke Morichika at his shop, Kourindo. He shows her one of his prized possessions, the golden sphere. However, when she touches it, it unleashes a mysterious beam of light. Rinnosuke starts acting strange, and a giant tower now stands where Kourindo used to be.
The population of Gensokyo has also been replicated by clones who attack people on sight. As the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, it is Reimu’s duty to resolve this latest incident and bring peace back to Gensokyo.
Along the way, she is joined by Futo Mononobe, who has recently set out on a quest to become a first class sage. With her partner in tow, can Reimu make her way through the dungeons of the tower and put an end to this incident?
NIS America is bringing over another Touhou title, Touhou Genso Rondo, which will launch later this year on September 6 in North America and September 9 in Europe.
Touhou Project started with shoot ‘em up games developed by the one-man studio Team Shanghai Alice. The sole member Jun’ya Ota, aka ZUN, crafted all the main entries, handling the programming, artwork, and music.
What other Touhou games would you like to see brought over to the west? Tell us in the comments!
