With Transformers Devastation having essentially just released, on October 6, to have a DLC follow so soon is an always appreciated treat. With so many Autobots and Decepticons in the Transformers universe, it’s no surprise PlatinumGames decided to give us three new playable characters equipped with three new destructive weapons. Although these are technically three new skins, (since they attach to already playable characters) they are skins of alternate characters fans may recognize from the T.V. series. Since they all come along with three brand new weapons as well, I like to see them as all new characters. But, that may just be the “Optimus” in me…..see what I did there?
Nemesis Prime and the Dark Star Saber
Nemesis Prime is the dark, neo version of Autobot leader Optimus Prime. A human made clone under Decepticon control, he has all of Optimus Prime’s abilities, but no sense of morality. Put a fierce purple glowing Dark Star Saber in his hands and watch out. For this skin he is given a sleek black color, along with some red tinted windows giving him a very cool look.
Goldfire and the Golden Hunter
As one of the smaller Autobots, Bumblebee has always felt a bit inadequate. This small self confidence issue spawns Goldfire. Goldfire is Bumblebee’s rebuilt, upgraded and improved form. Here he is rocking a sweet blue and gold chrome finish. Goldfire also comes equipped with the “Golden Hunter”, two, yes two, spiffy looking hand cannons. Each capable of critical damage.
Red Alert and the Photon Disruptor
Red Alert is paranoid, and as the Autobots head of security, that can either be a good or bad thing. Lacking common sense reason, and logic, Red Alert’s false alarm to real emergency ratio is a bit embarrassing. Here Red Alert makes up for his paranoia with a Photon Disruptor, a massive long ranged weapon with explosive damage.
If that wasn’t enough good news for you here’s one more: All new weapons are interchangeable between characters!
The new Transformers DLC packs will be available to buy on the PlayStation Store on November 10, 2015.
