Transistor pre-orders open, Bastion developer’s new game hits PS4 May 20

Greg Kasavin, creative director at Supergiant Games, took to the official PlayStation Blog to share some details about Transistor, Supergiant’s much-anticipated followup to Bastion, with PlayStation fans.

Transistor, which follows mysterious protagonist Red and her equally mysterious talking sword, is set to release for PS4 on May 20. Pre-orders for the title begin today, and you’ll be able to set up a Day 1 Digital download when the North American PlayStation Store updates.

Kasavin also spoke about DualShock 4 functionality, including the lightbar and speaker as conduits for Red’s expressive weapon. The game also runs at 1080p, which the team’s previous game, Bastion, was not able to reach on Xbox 360.

On trophies, Kasavin says we can expect a healthy challenge, with the game’s full set (including a Platinum) representing Transistor’s entire breadth of content. There are a number of trophies tied to in-game secrets, as well, and Supergiant won’t be sharing how these are unlocked. Hopefully, the challenges aren’t quite as esoteric as, say, Fez.

Finally, you can get your hands on the game soundtrack (either digital or with an added physical copy) through the official website.
