In a spate of news that’s not at all surprising, it’s today been confirmed by publisher Activision that Treyarch Studios is developing the latest iteration in the Call of Duty franchise.
Unveiled during an investor call, the behemoth publisher said that the newest game in the multi-million selling series will be ”exciting”, ”loaded with innovation”, and perhaps ”one of our best games yet”.
There’s been murmurs for some time that the newest Call of Duty game would in fact be World at War 2, a sequel to the Treyarch-developed shooter that was released back in 2008. Thankfully, and perhaps most interestingly, whatever the developer’s latest Call of Duty is, it’ll be the first to benefit from the three-year development cycle put in place by publisher Activision to ensure originality and quality.
Aside from World at War, Treyarch was also most recently responsible for both Black Ops and Black Ops 2.
Expect a formal announcement in the coming months, with the usual multiplayer exposé following soon a little bit after.
