Two Of The Quintessential Quintuplets Games Release On May 23 In The West For PS4, Switch, And PC

Publisher Spike Chunsoft announced that the first two The Quintessential Quintuplets console games will launch next week in North America and Europe on May 23, 2024 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and, for the first time ever, PC via Steam. Both titles should be playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility.

The two games, The Quintessential Quintuplets – Memories of a Quintessential Summer and The Quintessential Quintuplets – Five Memories Spent With You, will be available only digitally and either separately at $34.99 (£28.99 / €34.99) each or together in a Double Pack for $59.99 (£49.99 / €59.99).

A 10% discount will be available for each game separately or the double pack during the games’ first week from May 23, 2024, until May 30, 2024.

Developed by MAGES (formerly 5pb), these two Quintuplets games are point-and-click visual novels allowing you to make various choices and build bonds with characters that can result in one of over a dozen endings in each game.

It’s great to see more anime franchise games being unexpectedly brought over to the west! Perhaps if these two Quintuplets games are successful abroad, the west will see the release of the third Quintuplets console game that launched in Japan in September last year.

The Quintessential Quintuplets began as a 14-volume romantic comedy manga series by Negi Haruba that ran from 2017 to 2020. In January 2019, an anime adaptation began, resulting in two TV anime seasons that culminated in the The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie hitting theaters in 2022 in Japan and in 2023 in the west.

While the movie covered the manga’s ending (and served as a touching finale, in my opinion), the franchise saw a surge in popularity that resulted in more anime being produced. A two-episode anime special The Quintessential Quintuplets ∽ released in 2023 with a theatrical release in Japan before being broadcast later. A new anime project titled The Quintessential Quintuplets* was announced at the end of last April at a 5th anniversary live event in Yokohama.

Crunchyroll’s synopsis of the anime series reads, “Uesugi Fuutarou, a high school second-year from a poor family, receives a highly appealing offer to work part-time as a tutor… but his students turn out to be girls from his own class! What’s more, they’re quintuplets… and all five are beautiful, but happen to be problem students who have borderline grades and hate studying! Looks like his first assignment will be to win all the sisters’ trust?! Every day is a wild party in this rom-com centering around the quintuplet sisters of the Nakano household!”
