Reports claimed that from 2019 to its 2024 closure, Brandoville Studios commissioner Kwan Cherry Lai had abused staff on multiple occasions, including imposing a strict work schedule and daily Christian worship, to humiliating an employee in front of colleagues by making them write lines like a schoolchild.
In addition, Lai is also reported to have controlled the finances of employees at Brandoville and overworking an employee who was pregnant at the time, with their child sadly passing away after spending four months in intensive care having been born prematurely.
