Ubisoft sets its sights on Splinter Cell movie

Splinter Cell could be on its way to the big screen at some point down the line, according to a report on Deadline.

The site claims that publishing behemoth Ubisoft and Paramount Picture are in the process of cutting a deal to adapt the Tom Clancy videogame franchise, which has sold over 22 million units worldwide since 2002.

Previously, Ubisoft had been negotiating with Warner Bros though things ultimately didn’t pan out. As a result, the company fixed its gaze on Paramount, who have a lengthy history of pumping out Tom Clancy movies.

“Ubisoft will be very involved and retain control over how the game is translated into film,” the article reads.

The latest entry in the Splinter Cell videogame series, Blacklist, is scheduled for release on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in 2013.
