Sony has revealed that the PlayStation 3 has eclipsed the three million sales mark in the UK.
The machine launched in the region back in March 2007 and managed to shift 2.2 million units by July 2009, meaning it sold an additional 800,000 units during the latter portion of last year.
By comparison, Nintendo’s Wii platform has amassed a UK install base of six million, followed by Xbox 360 with 3.9 million. In terms of global sales, Sony said last summer that PS3 had sold 23.8 million units worldwide.
Congratulations on yet another milestone, Sony – let’s hope our beloved black box keeps up the pace for the foreseeable future, eh folks?
