UK Retailer Argos Issues Update On Cancelled PS5 30th Anniversary Edition Preorders

Following yesterday’s news that a number of Argos customers had their PS5 30th Anniversary Edition preorders cancelled, the retailer has now issued an update stating that “some” orders were cancelled while not providing a specific number.

Here’s the full statement from Argos, which was provided to Eurogamer overnight:

We saw huge demand for the PlayStation 5 30th Anniversary Limited Edition console and unfortunately had to cancel some orders, after they were processed incorrectly. We have contacted the customers affected to tell them how sorry we are for the disappointment this has caused and confirm they will receive a full refund.

The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Limited Edition series was announced last month by Sony, and celebrates three decades of PlayStation with a series of accessories and hardware branded in the same style as the PSOne ‘grey’ colour scheme. Preorder went live in late September, but quickly sold out.
