Uncharted 2 release date to be announced ‘very soon’

Naughty Dog has let slip that the developer will be making an announcement on a firm release date for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves ‘very soon.’

Speaking during a chat with fans on the North American PlayStation Blog yesterday, co-president Evan Wells commented: “We still haven’t announced our release date. So for now it’s still “Fall”, but I assure you that an official date will be announced very soon.”

Elsewhere, Wells confirmed that the sequel’s main campaign will eclipse its predecessor in terms of length, with over 90 minutes dedicated to cinematics alone.

“The single player campaign is definitely going to be longer than Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.   We have over 90 minutes of cinematics alone!   And of course we have the competitve and co-op multiplayer modes too!”

Furthermore, Naughty Dog’s Amy Hening revealed that protagonist Nathan Drake will be visiting an extensive range of locales throughout the game, including but not limited to war-torn cities, temples and swamps.

“Nate does a little more globe-trotting in this game than in Uncharted 1, so there’s a wider variety of environments.   Everything from urban areas, ancient temples, jungle swamps to snowy and icy locales.   Nate’s journey takes him from Turkey to Borneo, up to Nepal and into Tibet and the Himalayas,” said Hening.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is currently pencilled in for a fall release exclusively on PlayStation 3.
