Uncharted 4 single-player DLC won’t feature Sam after all?

The upcoming single-player expansion for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will not feature Sam Drake after all it seems, according to industry tipster, ‘Shinobi602.’

The NeoGAF insider was specifically referring this week’s earlier rumor, which claimed that the DLC would feature Nathan Drake’s older sibling in a starring role, suggesting actor Troy Baker had reprised his role for the upcoming content.

However, Shinobi602 stated that this isn’t the case at all, and the DLC won’t focus on Sam. Despite this, he didn’t address claims that the content will be a standalone affair and would be unveiled at PSX 2016 early next month.

Of course, nothing official has been confirmed by Sony or Naughty Dog regarding the Uncharted 4 single-player DLC, but it’s worth noting that Shinobi’s track record speaks for itself when it comes to early leaks. As such, we’re inclined to believe what he says is the real deal, though it doesn’t hurt taking it with a pinch of salt just in case.

While gamers wait to find out what Naughty Dog has up its sleeves as far as single-player DLC goes, the California-based studio continues to serve up fresh content for the game’s multiplayer component. This December will see the release of the Uncharted 4 Survival mode, which implements long-awaited co-op play into the mix, as gamers team up or go solo against waves of increasingly tough enemies.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was released in May 2016 exclusively for the PS4, and sold over 2.7 million copies during its first week alone. The game sees Nate embarking on a globe-trotting treasure hunt alongside his long-lost brother, Sam, plus his trusty mentor Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan, while being pursued by a band of mercenaries lead by an old acquaintance of the Drake siblings.

Naughty Dog has confirmed that it’s cutting ties with the Uncharted 4 series after wrapping up DLC support for the fourth game, although hasn’t ruled out the possibility of Uncharted 5 being made by another studio.
