Naughty Dog has posted a new video showcasing the contents of the Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Special Edition.
Check it out below.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is scheduled for release exclusively on PlayStation 4 in early May. The sequel takes place a few years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and sees our hero coming out of retirement as a fortune hunter to track down a legendary pirate’s treasure.
Drake is joined in his adventure once again by mentor Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan and his long-lost brother, Sam, who was previously thought to have died some 15 years earlier. This time however, the stakes are much more personal and will push Nate to his limits.
Naughty Dog has attempted to spice up the Uncharted paradigm this time around by injecting a number of fresh gameplay mechanics. Chief among these include the ability to move stealthily through the environment to avoid enemies, as well as giving Drake a new tool in the shape of the grappling hook. Environments have also been expanded, affording more exploration opportunities for players as they hunt down hidden treasures.
Uncharted 4 will make the end of Nate’s adventures and will also be Naughty Dog’s final entry in the series; however, the studio has said it doesn’t mind another developer taking over the franchise at some point down the line.
The California-based studio has said that its next project should be able to squeeze even more out of the PS4, and has plans to revisit earlier prototypes—among which include The Last of Us 2—once it has finished working on Uncharted 4’s single-player DLC.
