Uncharted movie details leak, will be ‘intense and engaging’

Details on the upcoming movie adaptation of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune have leaked online via the Sony Pictures hack last year.

According to emails and database files culled from the hack, the Uncharted film will feature a summer blockbuster vibe similar to that of Tomb Raider, though the script never feels ‘goofy or silly.’ There’s also a romantic interest between Drake and Elena, though it will be “a lot sexier and more fun as the romantic tension in National Treasure was pretty lame.”

Nate’s big-screen debut will be “intense and more engaging for adults,” although the film is said to appeal to teenagers too. The movie’s director, Seth Gordon, is said to be excited about the project, and has already sent over a concept trailer and pre-visualization of Uncharted’s introduction sequence.

Back when Mark Wahlberg was attached to the film, he wanted less green screen segments and more on-location action. The actor also felt Drake should be more like Jason Bourne than Indiana Jones, to which Gordon reportedly agreed.

Wahlberg dropped out some time ago, obviously, although other actors were considered for the role of the series’ cheeky fortune hunter, including Chris Hemsworth and Channing Tatum. Finally, possible filming locations have been touted as Australia and Mexico, as well as a sound stage in Toronto.

There’s even more info available over on GameSpot, so be sure to check it out. The Uncharted film is scheduled for a summer 2016 release.
