Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is out next month, but one person who won’t be playing the game is Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind the franchise.
Speaking with Ssense, Kojima-san was asked if he’s planning on playing the game, which is a remake of his stealth classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater from 2004. His response? “No, I won’t.” This is not surprising, seeing as how the Death Stranding creator famously split from Konami back in 2015, and it’s an understatement to say the parting wasn’t exactly on friendly terms.

Elsewhere, the Kojima Productions boss had a few things to say about games nowadays, noting that, after watching Summer Games Fest, every title showcased had players battling alien or medieval creatures. Even the visuals and the systems are pretty much the same,” he commented, “and a lot of people enjoy this, I understand, but it is important to put something really new in there for the industry.”
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is scheduled for release on August 28, 2025 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. While the game utilises the same voice recordings from the original MGS3, the visuals and animations have been meticulously created from the ground-up, with environments and character models now rendered in high-resolution and featuring an incredible amount of detail compared to their PS2 counterpart.
