[UPDATE] Developer reveals that custom wallpapers are coming in a future PS4 update

UPDATE – Rebellion has contacted us with the following statement, denying claims that they know anything about custom wallpapers coming to PS4.

"Sorry Playstation gamers, I’m afraid we’re just as in the dark as you are about the next PS4 update! This is what we get for being organised!

When we were putting together our wishlist for ZombieArmy.com we thought custom console themes would be a cool giveaway.

Lo-and-behold PS4 ‘custom themes’ came out but didn’t include the ability to add custom backgrounds (which we’d already been working on), so we probably do need to tweak the wording in the website to be a bit clearer.

At least, if they do announce custom backgrounds we’ll be the first dev to have them ready. Your move Sony!

Anyway, if you’d like some beautiful Xbox One, smartphone, desktop and (hopefully future-proof) PS4 backgrounds, AND some exclusive Zombie Army Trilogy MP3s, head to ZombieArmy.com and sign up to the newsletter!"

ORIGINAL ARTICLE

It seems as though Zombie Army trilogy developer Rebellion has revealed that a custom wallpaper option for PlayStation 4 users – a feature that many have cried out for – is scheduled to crop up in a future firmware update for the console.

Found on a section of the developer’s official website which houses free tat (one that requires you to sign up to a newsletter), are a number of free console wallpapers, namely for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. At this present time the latter doesn’t support custom wallpapers, much to the condemnation of gamers who are annoyed by the fact that such a common feature is currently missing in action for whatever reason.

What’s most important, however, is the little disclaimer at the bottom of the screen which says, ”Note for PS4 users: The ability to set a background should be available in an upcoming System Software update.”

We expect confirmation from Sony in the coming weeks.
