Update 2 – PlayStation Network is back online.
Update 1 – 4 hours after the last update from Sony Computer Entertainment, Ask PlayStation have tweeted that the PlayStation Network problems are still being worked on, although there’s no explanation for the downtime.

With reports that users cannot access some PlayStation Network services flooding in from social media and gaming forums over the last half-an-hour, Sony has confirmed that it is currently experiencing issues.
The official PlayStation Network service status page simply displays the message “Some services are experiencing issues”, while the PSN down detector service shows that reports of an outage have spiralled over the last 30 minutes. Via Twitter, Sony confirmed that engineers are currently working to revolve the issues.
There’s no scheduled maintenance planned, so we’ll be keeping an eye on how things progress throughout the day. Stay tuned for more information, and keep an eye on the Ask PlayStation Twitter account.
