(UPDATE)Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection

For those of you who may have missed out on the Metal Gear saga, you’ll be pleasantly happy to know that Konami plans on releasing the Metal Gear Solid: Essential Collection box set for the PlayStation 2 console. This is without a doubt a way to help boost even further interest into the future release of Metal Gear Solid 4 later this year.

Konami has announced that in this set you’ll be getting the original PlayStation Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (Directors Cut), and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (Directors Cut). These will be packaged together for the low price of $29.99. The artwork for the box will be done by MGS series artist, Yoji Shinkawa.

There has yet to be an official release date for this bundle set, however, big time retailer GameStop has it set for a mid-March release. This will give all of you newcomers to the gaming world a chance to see and experience what has made this franchise what it is today.

UPDATE: It is now being reported from PALGN that Australia will more than likely not be receiving this collection of Metal Gear Solid games.  According to Atari, who distributes Konami games in Australia, "At this stage there are no plans to release the collection here".

It’s looking like a bad day down under.
