Valkyria Chronicles DLC dated for April 16

Finally the three downloadable content packs for Valkyria Chronicles will be made available to North American owners come April 16. The content — which the Japanese have been enjoying for months — adds three entirely new elements to the game that should improve the replay value and add on to the gameplay that already exists. Valkyria Chronicles has flown under the radar in North America, but hopefully this new exposure will help gain it some followers. As some of you may remember, Valkyria trumped Resistance 2 in November as our Game of the Month.

We’ve included the details of each DLC pack below.

Hard EX Mode: adds a new difficulty to the campaign. The Edelweiss will be unavailable and enemies will be more lethal than before. Clearly, this is a mode for the hardcore VC players out there.
Edy’s Mission "Enter the Edy Detachment": Edy and five squad members have been separated from Squad 7. In this new mission, players will have to use this small team to defend a small village from an Imperial Army attack.
Selvaria’s Mission "Behind Her Blue Flame": No more Mr. Nice Guy. This DLC lets you play as the enemy. Play as Johann, an engineer assigned to Selvaria, in a mission that takes place right after the outbreak of Gallian battle lines.

Fortunately for our readers, we have a surprise giveaway lined up to coincide with the launch of the content next week. It may include some DLC codes, perhaps a copy of the game, maybe another artbook or possibly something even a tad bit more rare from the growing franchise. Be sure to keep your eyes out for it because it’s going to be something every Valkyria Chronicles fan or pursuer will want to have.
