Following its release on Steam last year, developers M2H and Blackmill Games have confirmed that its World War 1 first-person shooter, Verdun, is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on August 30, 2016.
“After a successful PC release we received a lot of questions asking when the game would be available on the Xbox or PlayStation. Having Verdun playable on the console was definitely a no brainer for us, though we all agreed that the game needed some fine-tuning to make it compatible for these devices while keeping the authentic gameplay experience," said developer Jos Hoebe in a press release.
Featuring intense trench warfare, Verdun is inspired by the Battle of Verdun in 1916 and features four games modes: Frontlines, Attrition, Rifle Deathmatch, and Squad Defense. The developer says that the maps are based on real battlefields in France and Belgium, and will feature authentic WW1 uniforms and weaponry.
In Verdun, you gain XP and move through the ranks, earning Career Points to unlock new weapons, specializations and equipment. It’s described as a tactical squad-based FPS with players having to adopt different roles on the battlefield in order to succeed.
