Warner announces Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection

Retro beat ‘em up compilation Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will be released on PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE and PC this summer, Warner Bros. Interactive has announced.

The bundle has been rumored for some time now, and includes the series’ eponymous debut fighter and sequels Mortal Kombat II and Ultimate Mortal Kombat III.

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon commented:  “We are very excited to finally have the first three Mortal Kombat games available in one download package for long-time and new fans to play.”

“With the release of our 2011 Mortal Kombat, and its return to 2D game play, players have been asking for these classic titles and we are happy to deliver them.”

Developed by Other Ocean and NetherRealm Studios, Kollection will retail for $9.99/800 Microsoft Points and throws in online play, leaderboards plus Trophies/Achievement support.

U.S. retail giant GameStop is celebrating the release by flogging a limited run of the Mortal Kombat Klassic Fight Stick, manufactured by the chaps at Performance Designed Products.

The peripheral will be packaged with a code to download the Arcade Kollection for PS3 and Xbox 360. GameStop is now accepting pre-orders for the sticks, which release on August 31 for the sum of $129.99.
