Time Warner has let slip during a recent financial meeting that it will launch the next instalment in the Batman franchise this year.
The full transcript of Warner’s Q4 2012 earnings call, which transpired last week, can be seen on Yahoo! Finance. However, it seems the news slipped under the radar until today.
In the report, John K. Martin, chief financial officer at Time Warner, commented, "We expect [digital home video revenue] to grow close to 20% in 2013. And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise."
The last entry in the Batman series, Arkham City, hit PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in October 2011. Rumors of a prequel set during the Silver Age of Comics emerged last year, and would again be developed by series regulars Rocksteady Studios.
However, VG247 has learned that the next title in the series will not be handled by Rocksteady. In addition, the franchise has lost scribe Paul Dini, who confirmed in August 2012 that he would not be working on a third Arkham title alongside Warner.
Stay tuned for more details as we get them.
