"We’re getting married!" says developer Media Molecule

Sony Computer Entertainment announced this morning that it has acquired developer Media Molecule. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though Sony Europe’s Senior VP of Worldwide Studios Micheal Denny wrote that the Media Molecule team is now a "wholly owned part of Sony Computer Entertainment" on the European PlayStation Blog.

Media Molecule, best know for developing LittleBigPlanet, has maintained a strong relationship with SCE, who published the game and contributed to the development of its PSP version. To those wary of the acquisition of a studio that has only one game "under its belt," Denny’s asked consumers to look at "their list of awards and accomplishments… " and went on to list the numerous recognitions the studio has received.

Sony Computer Entertainment now owns 15 design studios spread across the U.S., U.K., Netherlands, and Japan.
