It’s one of the big questions on everyone’s minds: when is The Last Guardian coming out? Well, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the release date for The Last Guardian may never surface as Sony has abandoned the trademark for the game as of February 16, 2015.
The reasoning for the abandonment states, “Abandoned because no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued”.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that Sony has cancelled the Team ICO game, but the future doesn’t look bright. Other scenarios could mean that the game has been renamed or Sony plans on renewing the name at a later date. Either way, it could be a long time before we hear about The Last Guardian release date.
The game’s creator, Fumito Ueda, recently hinted that the game has moved to PS4 and is still fully in development.
