Game Informer’s June cover story–a massive expose on PlayStation 4 sequel inFAMOUS: Second Son–reveals which inFAMOUS 2 ending will be considered series canon moving forward.
Beware of major spoilers.
Moments ago, the Minneapolis-based magazine revealed that its June issue (available later today to digital subscribers) will play host to 30 pages of PS4 content, including interviews, new indie games, and a cover story on the highly anticipated Second Son. In the outlet’s introduction article, a plot synopsis for Second Son was provided:
"In the series’ first foray into a real-world location (Seattle), Cole MacGrath is dead. Since sacrificing himself at the end of Infamous 2, the country has been on high alert for other possible conduits. To deal with this perceived threat, the government has set up the oppressive Department of Unified Protection, and they’ve placed Seattle on lockdown. As new protagonist Delsin Rowe, players will be given more than enough opportunities to fight the power." [bold added for emphasis]
inFAMOUS fans will recognize the bolded detail above as referencing one ending in particular of inFAMOUS 2’s possible two. In the Good Ending of inFAMOUS 2, protagonist Cole MacGrath sacrifices himself to save humanity from a deadly plague. Without going in to much detail, the Evil Ending tells a very different story.
So, it seems that the Good Ending of inFAMOUS 2 is the canonical ending, at least with regard to upcoming PS4 blockbuster inFAMOUS: Second Son. Give us your take on this story development in the comments below.
