Activision will release a new Ghostbusters video game for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One this summer.
Unsurprisingly, the game is being launched to coincide with the release of the upcoming movie reboot of the popular franchise, although it seems unrelated to its big screen counterpart. The game launches on July 12.
Not many details are known at present, though it features an isometric viewpoint and allows for up to four players to strap on their Proton packs to lay waste to those pesky phantoms.
Ghostbusters is no stranger to spooking the video game market, and has seen numerous releases over the years to varying degrees of success. The last major outing came in the shape of 2009’s Ghostbusters: The Video Game developed by Terminal Reality, which featured the likeness and voice acting from stars Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson.
The game picked up favorable reviews among critics and managed to flog over one million copies worldwide, making it one of the most successful Ghostbusters titles to date.
