MachineGames has confirmed that Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will feature PS4 Pro enhancements in addition to the previous confirmed Xbox One X compatibility.
Jens Matthie, Creative Director on the upcoming Nazi-blasting sequel, confirmed the news during a chat with GameSpot.
While revealing that the game will take advantage of the extra technical muscle of Sony and Microsoft’s latest hardware, he wasn’t able to go into detail on the matter.
"I’m not so attuned to those plans. But for sure, those are support and the engine can take advantage of that extra power,” said Matthie.
Elsewhere, he also revealed why the upcoming sequel will not support a multiplayer mode.
"Whenever we start a project we analyse it from every angle. So we definitely talked about it. But we feel like we make the best games when the whole team is focused on the same thing. Otherwise you start competing for resources and we don’t feel that’s the best way to make a game for us because we like everybody to be super focused on one purpose. So we decided to go single-player only.”
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus release date is almost here
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is due for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on October 27, 2017. The game is released on the same day as Assassin’s Creed Origins, another major third-party release for PS4.
The game takes place during an alternate history that sees the Nazis emerging victorious during the Second World War. Hero William ‘B.J.’ Blazkowicz returns once again to overthrow the Nazi regime, and comes packing some serious firepower as you’d expect.
